An open Letter

Dear Voter;

Every politician usually has some big idea.  A new dam or city hall or a road or a planned community and county.  I too have a big idea.  That idea is to free you from the oppression of government excesses and regulation.  I see government differently than the other candidates I see its job is to remove barriers from citizens rather than add more regulations and restrictions.
The future is full of serious problems and opportunities.  I want to unleash the drive and potential of those who dream a better tomorrow. County government should provide essential services and infrastructure to match those collective dreams.  No one can envision all the dreams of everyone, but as county commissioner I can help the county get out of your way and help make sure the economic playing field is fair.

The Delta County we love was created, not by politicians, but by individuals that had a dream and were willing to bet their lives and fortune on it.  The reservoirs on the Mesa, the towns and farms were done not by some big government plan but by people who saw an opportunity and went for it. It is doubtful that these reservoirs could be constructed today considering all the environmental and restrictive regulations along with required permits. There is no way government can match or even come close to envisioning what free men can do if allowed.  That’s what we loved and thought special about Delta County when we moved here and bought the farm we always dreamed of owning.  It isn’t so much a place as it is the freedom we had to realize our dreams. I want to preserve that freedom for everyone. All of the other Candidates for District 2 Commissioner are determined to continue eroding the uniqueness and freedom that has been Delta County with dark clouds of government control and direction.  Please vote for me for a better, brighter, freer future.

Mike Mason
